This album was the first Therion album I listened to. A friend told about Therion and then
I wanted to listen to it.
And when I started listening to it I felt like “I want that CD, I need it”. When my friends
listened to it, they were shocked, because they don't like a soprano singing metal. But
I were so happy to listen my two passions together, metal and classical music, but in a
different level, in a more classical level. Cristofer Johnsson (lead guitarist &founder) made
this album a different experience to people who listen to Therion.
This album is a mix between so many things like new songs, old songs, live songs, and covers. The first track is one of the best tracks I have ever listened to. “Crowing of Atlantis” is a masterpiece in metal for me: the vocals are perfect, the tenors and the sopranos are great together! I mean, they sound awesome and I can't stop listening to it over and over again. Also “Mark of Cain” is a less classic but also good song. Ralf Scheeppers (former Gamma Ray singer) sings on 2 tracks, “Thor”(a great cover of Manowar. I like this version better than the original. Sopranos make the difference) and “Crazy Nights”(Loudness cover). And the live songs are something from another world. I believe Therion should make a live album. Another track you have to listen is “Seawinds”(Accept cover). It's a beautiful ballad. To end I have to say that Therion is a band you just have to listen to all of the albums, even the first ones, which were black metal albums. I read an article in a magazine. Which said that Therion's new album (Deggial) was a bad album, because metal and classical stuff on the songs are nothing new and I have to tell them, that Therion was one of the first bands to make that mix and they are the best doing it, and if you love metal and classical music (which are connected), you will love Therion's new album “Deggial” I gave this album a 4 ½ because it has got excellent music and lyrics, but the bad thing is the song #3 “Clavicula Nox”(remixed). It's a song that makes a bad mix in the album level. - Marco - |
